Ok I'm sure I"m not the only one interested in eels... but doesn't want a salt-water tank.

So everyone out there who has experience please share with the rest of us, and maybe we can start an interesting thread and get some eel info out in the open!

i saw a freash water glass eel the other day very thin about 1 mm but very long looked cool
very nearly got myself one or two,
but i find the fish in one of my lfs all are very active and thats becasue they have nothing in the tank and its all glass and mirrors. and when you add them to yours the fish just losses its wacky ness! and hides :( but they are still very cool looking fish
i find a pic later and post it

Ive had a fresh water moray, tire track, peacock, spiney, fire, and blockspot eels. You probobly already know but the need an escape proof tank, these guys are worse than snakes! They would also like a fine subsrate to bury in. I include several burried peices of PVC. I feed shrimp, and blood worms, they love live food, but that realy isnt accesable around me so i go w/ the frozen. Some of these bad boys get quite large(tire track and fire)so make sure you have got an adequitly sized tank, say no les than,65gallons? Some of the care sheets say more but its up to you our Fire is in a 75 an the blockspot is in a 20. HTH

tire track, peacock, spiney, fire, and blockspot arent real eels they are just called that, and freshwater morays are brackish, many do get very big so research what kind you want and what your tank can hold before you buy one, and like godzilla said they are escape artists and if theres a way out youll come home to your new eel halfway across the room on the floor
