Freshwater clams or mussels in aquariums?

Has anyone used freshwater clams or mussels in aquariums? Im just wondering if theres any freshwater clams that are safe to put in a freshwater aquarium. Im thinking these might be good to help control green water. but im not sure. so i need some opinions. i also want to know what they eat. thank you...

MrParker sent me a half dozen of them a few weeks ago and they are doign fine, and I believe his are as well. They bury into the gravel or sand and only keep a little part visible. I believe they are filter feeders. Nice addition. My yoyo loaches wouldn't leave them alone for the first week, but now they have lost interest completely.
