freshwater puffer fish

does any one no anything about fresh water puffer fish i have just been given one he is in a 15g tank with a lil goldfish i can post pics if needed i just need some info on his keeping the tanks been cycled for about 5 weeks thanks guys

i can tell you this they are fin nippers, but they are fun to watch and have a hell of a personality. some have been known to come to the top of the tank and spit water out when they are hungry and your right there

what kind of freshwater puffer is he.... a dwarf puffer? cause those are the only true freshwater ones....he will most likely beat up the goldfish too... and if its a DP they like the water at 80 degrees... not the best for the goldy

Yeah I wouldn't keep the goldfish in a 15g anyway, best bet is a large tank (20g+) or a pond.

just keep in mind that most puffers only do well in a tank on their own or at least that is what i have read. most puffers are brackish like unwritten said there arent many freshwater puffers.

if you do keep a puffer with other fish they HAVE to be fish that can swim fast and get away or he will nip their fins.

Make sure you read up on puffers specifically, each kind has very specific requirements regarding water and food. Otherwise these guys can die quickly.
