I have two otos who have been ignoring each other for months, they just go about doing their own thng. Since my cory laid eggs, the otos have gotten very frisky with each other and the bigger one looks like a baloon ready to pop. The little skinny one is following the big fat one aroudn the tank.

How do I tell if they are a male/female pair.

Catfish Don't really "pair up" like other fish. When a female becomes gravid she will start hounding the dominant male for a little *wink wink*. If there is only one male present in the tank he will do. The males will sometimes reject the female. So her attention isn't always wanted. Anyhow females are larger and broader especially when viewed from above. This holds true for all 13 species of Oto.

mmm zebra Oto
Otocinclus cocama • Loricariidae • Cat-eLog • PlanetCatfish

If they did spawn, where would I look for eggs? The fat oen looks like it lost alot of it's belly and the little one is back off in hiding.
