um...did you just get him? We're talking about the betta right?

Most stores wont accept sick fish...and if they do they'll just take them in the back and euthenize them. Its not worth the sickness spreading to their stock fish. So I'd say you should probably try to medicate him.

You need to keep the water quality really high, raise the temperature to at least 78 if its not already that warm for him, and find a good medication. If its columnaris (I dont know do bettas get columnaris??) that usually looks like cotton around the mouth and its actually bacterial and not fungal...so you might want to be sure what you're treating before you jump into a medication.

I am beginning to hate fish*ALL*

I put 1/2 a tab in the tank he won't eat he is just hanging out at the top of the tank. My water is at 72 I have the heater on and also a lamp over the top to help warm it up.
this fish better pull through or i am done. Back to comets for me

Sorry he's sick. Don't give up though, fish are great. This may be a stupid question to ask, but when your other betta died, did you completely clean out the tank, gravel, decorations, etc before putting in the new one?
