Hello all,

My 6" pleco's been in his new home for two weeks. Awesome, very active, even sporadically throughout the day. He's determined a dinner routine; comes out and lingers in the "feeding clearing" around 7. Seems perfectly healthy. Except that I could draw a line in the gravel in the middle of the tank and bet a hundred bucks he won't cross it. Which I don't think is good; he's in a 20ga and will be for a while. I've got a driftwood cave and plants on the left side of the tank, which he avoids. When resting, he hangs out vertically behind plants in the right corner. He's in the tank alone; I moved it's previous occupants out to maximize his space. Water's all good. Is he just peculiar? I'd really like to see him using the whole tank.

Incidentally, this fish is supposedly around fifteen years old. Is that possible? I can vouch for him being at least seven.

Thanks for any insight.

Plecos get VERY old, I've heard upwards of 20 y/o so he could be 15. Althought at 6 inches I dont know...unless he's not a common pleco, I would think a 15 y/o common pleco would be pretty darn big. I remember one that my parents had that was a good 15 inches and was only like 4 years old...

Plecos are pretty much noctournal fish...so its possible that he only goes on the other side of the tank when you're not awake. OR hey, maybe he just likes that side :) Who knows.
