I am going to get a 10G tank soon and i wanted to put some cichlids in there. What would be some good cichlids for a 10G tank that will get along??

You are very limited in what you can put in a 10 gallon. More so by what fish you can get localy than the species of fish that will work.

Just about any New World dwarf cichlid would work. And like yahoo said some of the shell dwellers from Tanganyika.

Rams might work, but I don't think I'd put a breeding pair of kribs or keyholes in a 10 gallon.

Do you have any idea's of what you'd like to see in the tank?

multies, multies, multies, sorry, ever since i lost mine i cant stop recommending them to people :D but they really are a whole lot of fish in a tiny little package, very entertaining and they have a very interesting social structure, although in a 10g you couldnt get much of a colony going.

Hey silver dollars!

I started with a 10g, and it was nothing but constant work to try to get a living situation arranged, granted I had very aggressive cichlids and hadn't done any research. Heck, I didn't even join this site until after I had bought too many fish for the tank.

You've probably heard the drill...Overstocked the tank. Got attached to the fish. Bought bigger tank. Fish outgrew them both. myfishtank.net members really all over the place trying to get me to straighten out my situation. In one month I ended up with four tanks!

Moral of the story is research first, less asprin later. But so far, my ten was the most fun.
