Hi Everyone, I have a question....

I recently setup a 55g tank in my basement, I really didn't think things through here.....

I really have no way of gravel vacuuming or doing water changes, as there is no sink near this tank (to use a python) so I was wondering.....

I have an old water pump I used for draining my waterbeds years ago, I plugged the thing in, and WOW it still works, so I want to connect my gravel vac. tube to about 15' of hose and used this pump to "suck out the tank" you think this will work?

Before you say "how are you going to fill it back up" I'm going to use the garden hose attached to my "slop sink" in the garage (the connecter is all rigged together, so thats why I can't hook my python to it instead). but it does have hot/cold water so I'll be able to get the temps right during refill.

I do intend to eventually fix the sink, at which point I can use the python again, but until then, do you think this will work?

My gravel vac only cost like 4-5 dollars. I don't know how much you're really saving by ghetto. Haha.

Yes I know, I have 3 or 4 "traditional" gravel vacs, plus I have a python system, the problem is I have no where to hook up the python, and I am trying not to have to use the gravel vac with buckets to drain the water (way too much work :p ) hence the "water pump" to drain the water right outside. :D

To sum up, I'm not trying to "save money" I'm trying to save myself some extra work
