ghost shrimp babies

i noticed one of my ghost shrimp i just bought has about 30 or so little brown things (all uniform in size and color) in her belly, very close to her "flaps". she keeps moving them and rotating them inside of her. are these eggs?

they usually will not lay the eggs in fresh water. move them to brackish conditions and you will have little ones

Ghost shrimp do not "lay" eggs. The female will release the hatchlings into the water column. They will readily do this in pure freshwater.

Of course if you don't catch the babies they will get eaten or sucked in the filter. When it looks like the brown things are about to fall off put her in a hatchery so the babies can fall thru the false bottom to safety. The mommy will eat them also if she can.
