do you think ghost shrimp increase or decrease my bioload? i thought maybe they would increase because they produce waste but maybe decrease because they clean up?

Well even snails will increse your bioload. They consume waste yes, but it requires just as much energy to break down the food as if it sat on the tank floor. However the shrimp are not exactly very heavy bioload wise and you can add a lot to an understocked tanks. Be careful when the shrimp molt any fish over 2 inches that finds them will consume them. They can be spawned in freshwater and have very large fry.

I see things differently, most dont but some see it my way too. Fish like otos, shrimp, plecos and well "cleaning crew" fish do not count into my bioload estimates because in my opinion they do more good that harm. Yes they do produce was but they eat all the hidden food which gives less ammonia, clean the algae which gives more oxygen and such. So i say they do neither increase or decrease but maintain the same bioload.

well, it depends what kind of algae. some oxygen actually produces O2 as a waste product of photosynthesis, so there would be less O2 in the tank if it were being eaten. The O2 is derived from the splitting of the H2O molecule, where only the hydrogens are needed for energy. I'm just nit-picky, don't mind me... hehe.
