Yes.

And I just wanted to point out that posting in all caps. (or even with the first letter of every word capitalized, for that matter) is poor etiquette...not to mention hard on the eyes for us folks who are trying to read the messages and provide helpful feedback.

Donna worry bout it...if no one told ya how would ya know.

yes all of our ornamental shrimp molt, just like the bigger ones do in the wild. This is the process of the shrimp discarding it's exso (sp) skeleton in order for it to grow. You will prob never see this happen as they normally hide during this process as it leaves them very open to predation.

Well, it actually depends on if it is a true ghost shrimp or Macrobrachium species. The former stays less than 2" while the latter gets in excess of 12" and is a fish eating machine. I've seen it. Mine grew in excess of 6" and then I gave to a guy at PetCo. From what I understand, the Macrobrachium species is the one most commonly sold during the winter months. That's when I've seen them in the fish stores. About a month ago at the LFS, saw one mixed in with amanos...snack time! I told the owner and he yanked it and dropped it in with the Arowanas. They didn't eat him right away and now he stays under a big rock below their level. On a recent visit, I noticed he was about 3". Not a threat to them, but he seems to be doing just fine.

How to tell?

1st the size. big=fish eater
2nd do you see them eating fish? Yes=fish eater
3rd is there an orange/reddish streak along their claws? Yes=fish eater

For more info do a search on this site as about a year ago we had some interesting discoveries on this same topic.
