They need places to hide for when they molt (shed their exoskeleton) They're very vunerable at this time. They also dont like high temperatures or fluxuations in water chemistry. I don't think any of the fish you mentioned would eat a LIVE shrimp...

They also like to be fed some extras from time to time (shrimp pellets or algae tabs)

Yeah...I had 3 of mine die in a week when my temperatures were going from 84 to 79 every day because it was so hot outside. The fish were fine, but the shrimpies didn't appreciate it.

when i got mine they were 10 for a dollar, so we got 30(3 bucks, and some free baby minnows too, hehehe the girl was too lazy to scoop em out:D)

alot of em died really quickly after we got home like 20 in a week and now we have 2 or 3 of the originals. we put em in a 2 gal hex with the minnows, and the shrimp had babies! now i dont know how many we have, just 3 bigones and a whole bunch a little ones!:D

and the colder the water the better ive found:D

ghost shrimp aren't that great at hair algae in my experience. Japonica shrimp (more $$$) are great workers. Ghost shrimp are cheap and for good reason, they die/disappear pretty fast. Also: I got a small ghost shrimp in a batch of 8 and my tetras picked at it and killed it within a few hours. Didn't bother the larger ones.

Our glass shrimp just seem to hide in the shadows most of the time. You really have to look to find them.

We got 5 the other week, and today we had 3 hiding under the tree stump when we moved it. One died soon after we got it, and there may be a fourth hiding out somewhere.

I really haven't seen them do very much at all, so I can't really say they're a lot of fun, but an interesting addition while they last (and possibly a tasty treat for someone in the tank).

i bought 7 ghost shrimp (2 were free!) and 2 died, 1 died of some odd problem..and the other commited suicide by jumping and getting stuck on the lid. now i moved the rest 5 into my guppy tank and there fine. its been almost 1 month and all 5 are there, although in the beginning the guppies looked interested in the smallest ghost shrimp
