hey it's me again!
would ghost shrimp be harmed(a.k.a. eaten or mauled) by dwarf gourami, neon tetras, kissing gourami, peppered corydoras, or platies? all of which i have in my tank. thanks. i really would like to get some but i also don't want to use them as live food.

yea, i was most concerned about the dwarf gourami. sometimes, they snap their mouths shut so fast and hard that you can hear it. The kissing are still small(2 in) and i want to relocate them out anyways. If it doesn't work out, i guess i'll just have to transfer the ghosts to another tank. oh well, guess i have a reason to start another tank :)

I had 4 in a 10g with swordtails and a dwarf gourami. They were fine until they molted...and then it was shrimp cocktails for everyone :(

I have two sets of rocks with small enough spaces that the shrimp can get into that fish can't, and several live plants for hiding. Maybe my batch of shrimp were too stupid to hide well?

to answer bscaggs06 question, 6 work great in a ten gallon, in fact u may not even have enough food for all them unless u make it a point to specifically feed them. they clean up very well. as for the main thread, i know the neons will be fine cuz my sisters tank had both for awile. (however the shrimp did get killed by her fruit tetras. not even sure what a fruit tetra was before they painted it, i hate painted fish.)

I get Ghost shrimp (5 for a $1) and they are fine in my tank with Dwarf Gouramis, Congo Tetras, Danios and neons. Cories and Platies don't bother them in my other tank either. Dwarf Gouramis are peaceful though they do smack when feeding at the surface. But, unless your other Gouramis get them they should be fine.

$1.29 each for Ghost Shrimp? you sure they weren't Algea shrimp or Amano shrimp?

ghost shrimp are like feeders, but also a great addition to the tank. they are awesome to look at and at my LFS in so cali, i get them for 9 for the $1. basically like 11 cents for 1 ghost shrimp. i buy like 20 once in awhile, and a lot of them disappear. i wouldnt buy ghost shrimp formore than 15 cents each. they sometimes get eaten, but their lifespan is about 1 to 2 years. so dont expect too much from them. if they die, they die. get more if you want. easy as that :)
