god i hate the lfs

well i went to the lfs(the one i used to work at)and i was assaulted with plecos.all kinds it was wonderful!both kinds of green spot,false clowns,two kinds of bushynoses,mangos,zebras,and this monster common pleco thats head was almost 4 inches wide!!!so many plecos so few tanks. wish i had another tank

I know what you mean. I went to one ofmy LFS last week and they had some that I never knew exhisted!! They had to have had a dozen different exotics in there!

oh i left out this wonderful cream spotted pleco that was mislabled as a gold spot.

Tell me where!!!! I want a Zebra but cant find one. I did see a Royal mislabeled as a zebra, but that didnt count.. TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME!!!

las vegas nv. the phone number is 702-388-0080.the stores name is F.I.S.H. the zebras run about 120 dollars.it's quite common to see zebras here,it's just the uncommonly high price that keeps me from buying one.

Not sure they would like the 5 hour drive in the Jeep to get back home though. Oh well

hmmm...my lfs had peppermint plecos for about 28 bucks, thats about as exotic as it gets here but i wouldnt mind getting a zebra sometime in the future

i get mad at my lfs for not having a good selection of loaches, but that just makes it great when i visit a lfs i havent been to and i see a loach i never saw before.

i hate my lfs cause they always mislabel gold banded plecos as clowns. i was under the misconception that i had two clowns - in reality, i have never even seen a clown!!! and i am very jealous because i loff the zebras and have only ever seen one in person. sigh. mississauga, ontario is even further than eco tank's 5hr jeep ride home though...

Sinasster, kind of in your area, a place in Anaheim on State collage has a few baby Zebra plecos.

i agree...ontario so far from las vegas, but over here, the most exotic fish IVE found were archer fish and snakeheads!!! I AM ANGRY SINCE THEY PUT THE ARCHERS IS FRESH NOT BRACKISH!!! AND THE SNAKEHEADS ARE SCARED!!!!!

oh and the rarest pleco we have here are the zebra plecos, i have NEVER seen one being sold yet!!!

Ive seen a few rare plecos, but they are all prices in the $30-$50 + range. I think ive even seen a zebra pleco at petsmart.

An LFS near me has zebra and golden nugget plecos for $17 each (Some of the golden nuggets have ich ) These plecos are all no more than 2". Im not planning on getting one or anything, but out of curiosity and this been a pleco thread does anyone know if that is a good price?

it's a pretty good price for the gold nuggets - 3" gold nuggets cost around $40 (canadian).

i doubt they are true zebras if they are though you have an obligation to get some.go to www.planetcatfish.com and if the zebras you saw look just like the one on the title page of planetcatfish then get those zebras!!17 dollars is an insane price

how do you know if a zebra pleco is "true" or not? its not like looking @ things like guppies or platies where the look is VERY visable

well if you look at the profile of the zebra pleco at planetcatfish you will notice that the zebra pleco has just behind the head one vertical stripe that runs to both tips of the pectoral fins.coming off of this stripe is a series of horizontal stripes runing down the length of the fish.the colors of a true zebra are a pure white and solid black.false zebras such as the tapajos zebra pleco,and some others i can't fine the name for.at any rate if you check at planetcatfish,go into the cat e-log and you will find the zebra pleco way down at the bottom

The fish I saw look very alike to the ones in the pics, although they were duller in color. Could that be due to them still been small, or do you think they are not 'true' zebra plecos?
