Hi guys,
My gf has a 150lt tank full of goldfish. Some have their eyes potrude out like wearing a pair of gogle. I just saw one of them with just one eye left, the other is just an empty whole. I'm pretty sure that the whole "eye ball" was jus fell off the hole completely like it was de-glued. There was no sign of sickness or any thing, the poor fish is still swiming and eating as normal.. we've been adding Melafix to the tank to cure another fish. The water was a bit smelly last week when we didn;t change it for 2 weeks and the hot weather plus the clogged canister filter. So what was the cause ?? If you'd said cos of the dirty water, then should it have some sort of "skin disease" rather then jus the whole eye popped out ?

P.S: I'm still looking for the fell-off eye.

With those kinds of goldfish you need to make sure there are no sharp objects in the tank, like decorations or hard plastic plants, as they have sensitive eyes.

Definitely a good idea to keep the tank clean and the filter running. It sounds like the tank may be overstocked, so you need to be especially careful. :)

Thanks guys,
Yeah the fish is absolutely fine with 1 eye less ). My tank is a 40g with 14 gold fish ranging from 3cm to over 10cm, a 10cm Koi and a 8cm Gibiceps.. so yeah .. over stocked I think. But that's what my gf insists on and I can't say no to such a nice lady ). For your reference I have a Fluval 304 and an internal Fluval 3 running. I do have plastic plants and they are surely sharp.. so I'll remove them. Again thank you for your reply.
Have fun keeping fishhh !!!
