I have been looking for a good algae eater for my 10 gal, soon to be 29 gal, but I tried an Otto and a pleco, and both died. It wasn't my fault. I had an established tank, and I already had fish. (I did get them from PetsMart...) That's beside the point. So I waited a few weeks, thinking it was my fault, and I let the algae start to take over. I had everything, green, brown, and even hair. I got two of those algae eaters, from Aquarium Concepts, located in Evansville, IN. If I may add, it's the best fish store I've ever seen. Anyway, I put those guys in my tank, and within 24 hours most of the brown and green algae was gone. Within 48 hours, all of the brown and green algae was gone. Today, which would make it 96 hours, I watched them almost take out all of the hair algae. Yes, that's right, HAIR ALGAE. lol I watched them do it too, so you can't say that I'm lying. Don't worry, I started feeding them, because I saw how fast they cleaned up my tank. Good story? lol

Now a few questions... I've read many reviews about these fish that say they get lazy and aggressive. Well, does anyone have personal expierence that can tell there story? lol I'd like to know as much as I can about these guys. I just hope that they stay like this. They are the best workers I've seen, even better than my corys! Well.... maybe not the corys, but close. Okay, thanks for reading my thread!!!

i have one and it is a great algae eater, they are fairly agressive and will chase fish in a community, i keep mine with small mbunas in an african cichlid tank it still tries to chase them but cant catch them, the other one i used to have would chase all the fish sucking their slime coat off, they are the same as the regular CAE, agressive, good algae eaters, but prefer slime over algae, dont keep with slow fish

I've had one for awhile and it does attempt to chase every other fish in the tank. I've read that they do become aggresive as they grow older. They apparently, have been known to even atach themselves to other fish. I personally haven't seen that, however it was the only fish I could house with my Blue acara., which was extremely aggrersive

lol

Well My Golden Gourami is a HUGE bully of the tank But those two don't fight. They are VERY funny at times and have crazy attitudes. If My Golden Gourami touches him and tries to attack he will suck and go up the tank wait for Gemini to go past and float and attack Gemini lol Because I mean he attacked him 1st anyway So he will suck the side of Gemini taking him down the tank and it's like WWE right in my 10 gal. Tank
But You don't/may not have a bully who claims the whole tank like me. So yes they are awsome fish ^_^
