Has anyone heard of this as a possibility in goldfish? My goldie is coming up to 3 years old. Is living with a young blackmoor in a 60L tank. The tank is cleaned weekly with 1/4 to 1/3 water change. They are fed once sometimes twice a day at 12 hourly intervals with wardley flake food and a pea or two every week or so. There are plants in the tank. All the water levels are fine.

Over the past few months the goldie has been swimming on his side, same side always on the right, eating sideways, even sleeping sideways. He can also be seen to bump into things. Could he have some sort of neuro disorder or blindness? I know its not swimbladder as the symptoms are constant and a bit more odd than the classic symptoms found in swimbladder. He also seems to "space out" at times. Last night he floated to the top of the tank and appeared to be dead, but he wasn't as he "woke up" 3 or so minutes later and was fine.

The blackmoor is fine and growing up well.

Can anyone help me out as to what may be the problem here?

Just like people sometimes fish can be "special". In the wild he wouldn't have made it as long as he has in your tank. Meh if he is happy and healthy just buy him a helmet and a ticket for the short bus.
