I came across someone who was selling all of his fish, tanks and equipment the other day. He has some decent equipment that he is getting rid of, and looks like I am going to be able to get some at a very fair price

Rena xp1 canister
Rena xp3 canister
Gamma UV Sterilizer 8w
Ebo Jager 150w x2
Ebo Jager 50w

Im going to get this for $174. Belive me, he has a whole lot more that I would have liked to bought, but my wife rationed me down to just this. He said that all are in perfect working order and most are less than 6 months old.

Its always a gamble when buying second hand equipment, because you never know when you are also buying someone elses problems. But I'v got a good feeling that I will not have any problems with these. Only time will tell.

well.....I know someone is going to slam me for this but...

I passed up a 180 gallon with stand for $375 to get this stuff.

I dont even have anywhere to put such a large tank in storage, much less actualy set it up. I did try and talk the wife into getting rid of the bed (agian) but she still is not going for it...:D

Yeah, I think I will be very pleased with what I have bought.

Off the top of my head he was also selling 2 Emperor 400's for $40, one Ehiem 2227 wet/dry for $130, and several more good equipment. I wish I had the money to buy all of it. But, I'm happy to get what I did.

I will personally shoot you myself for passing up a 180gallon for that price. I was looking (er, uh, drooling) at the 180gallon tank in pets Plus just yesterday, (cost $1,069.00). I think the dimensions were 72x24x24, my ideal sized tank, short enough to get my arm in all the way to the back. Big enough for a couple hundred fish and even more plants. Maybe it's not too late to call up my Gambino family connections...

however, when has a $350 tank ever cost only $350. You would have probably ended up spending a grand on it anyway. You probably made the right decision. *celebrate *PEACE!*

PS: Please don't take the death threat seriously, or personally for that matter. *SUNSMILE*

Its all good drake. I know what you ment. ;)

But that was part of my thinking too. It would be at least six months before I had everything setup ready to work.

Depth- I dont have a UV sterlizer now. I figured I might want to jump on that as they are not the cheapest piece of equipment around. But I have read a few negative things about them. Some belive that the use of a sterilizer hurts the fish in the way that it removes the need for them to have a natural defence to infections, and that if they were introduced into a system without a sterilizer, that it would most likley lead to an infection.
