after months of requesting, and finding no rams, or sick rams , I finally found a male and female in good shape. I sure hope they pair up.:)

I was the same way! Finally the LFS store that I actually like/trust got them in (for almost double the price of the other LFS that had them) and I got a great-looking male and female. Aaaaand...they paired up! Well, at least they haven't killed each other, there's been no chasing or fin nipping and the male was actually guarding the female from the black neons at first.

G'luck with the rams. Would love 1 in my tank. Stunning fish.

My local is a massive store fully dedicated to tropicals and saltwater fish. Immaculate place and they usually have at least 2 tanks stocked with gbr's. They sell for £12 and a tank of young gold rams that go for £3 each. The price diff is nuts.

I was under that initial impression myself until I seen the prices.
It could be because of the range of colours that they sell for more. Even the young gbr's are more expensive than the golds. I think the golds are beautiful. A real striking rich colour. Heading there in a few hours after work for a look around and to get more silicone.

ya its funny though, the upscale shop I ve been going to had their fresh water guy leave , he move down south . since then things haven't been the same ie sick fish or promising that they always have rams and having none. they had some yesterday but they had ich and the golds where 10$ and the dull blues where 14$. So i figured that the fish here are now at the same quality level as the shops I stopped going to , I might as well give it a shot. Turns out, a really good fish guy whom is off and on at this one place is back there. and that ladies and gents is where I got my new boy and girl. ahhh that was a mouthful. Now my tank is almost commplete. just need 1 farlawlla cat ( acus) and this guy says he often has them in . ha ha :)

YAY for (almost) completely stocked tanks! :D My 29gal and 46gal are my only two community tanks that are stocked just how I want them to be. The 20gL (where my GBR pair are) almost is, I just need three more panda cories.
