I got my free tank delivered (!) to me yesterday. It came fully loaded with 2 aquaclear mini filters, heater, siphon, gravel (which I will replace), a whole bunch of pebbles, fake driftwood, airpump...Even some very expensive medicine for the fish (1 bottle for $75!) and lots of food.

Besides that, the Vancouver Aquarium club replied, telling me that one of their members would be getting some shelldwellers which he will most likely sell for $5 each, perfect for my aquarium! According to the person who sent me the e-mail, the species of teh shell dwellers are not certain, and he only said that they would be "Tanganyikans"

What a perfect week! All I need are some more shells, a trip to get some sand as substrtae and I'll be all set.

But now...after seeing 3 Rams for $6...I'm torn between shell dwellers of Rams...Any advice? What do you think about my latest score?

PS: I'll be cycling the tank as soon as the stand my dad is making is complete!

i dunno if it is such a good idea to mix the two cichlids up, one its that they are from different lakes, different continents if that lol...but getting along, i noticed that rams seem very peacful....but i personally wouldn't mix the two cichlids..

but shooot congrats on the set up, its kinda like mine, but someone else in the family bought the tank set up years back

Actually, I was meaning to say EITHER Rams OR Shell dwellers.

Anyways, We just finished the stand right now. Though functional, all I have to say right now is that it's looking very "vintage". i'll be adding subsrate (sand) in the next few days and hopefully get some Javamoss growing on the fake driftwood to make it more realistic. Add a few more shells if I'm getting shelldwellers, some aquascaping and then it's cycling time!

Life is very good right now
