Ok i did it ninja style and i got this crab.He messed up,we just got a sailfin tang and we had him for only for a week to the day and this crab ate him.So of course the wife was not happy so she made me stay there till i got the crab.I was just wondering if anyone knows what kind of crab it is.The first pic is the one i just got and then the 2nd one is one of another crab we have in there and i wanted to know what kind it was.

the first is a very cool looking crab...too bad its a killer. I certainly don't know what kind it is...sorry. How big is it? doesn't hardly look big enough to have killed a tang.

Second looks a little like an emerald mithrax but its kind of hairy isn't it? if its hairy on the carapace im not sure its an emerald...hmm

Well with tha tang he was just a juvenille so he was not that big at all.We know it was him because he had the fish in his little crab cave.One more thing.how long will he stay alive in a bowl with some salt water in it?.I want to take him to my fish guy because he is going to feed it to his trigger fish.So that crab is about to meet his maker...... *thumbsups

the hairy crab has a funny name that has to do with the way it holds it's claws over it's face, like shameful crab or something. Obviously the scientific name escapes me, but i think i read on nanoreef that it was killing someone elses fish.

The second looks like an emerald.

that hairy crab is cool looking.....maybe the tand died from some other cause and the crab was just doing his scavaging?cleanup job and dragged the tang into his hole to eat him after he died. Im not so sure the crab could've killed even a juvenile tang. Unless you saw it happen he might not be the killer. you said you only had him a week so maybe it was something else?

That looks like that him.He looked diffrent when he wa in the tank.I took him to my fish guy and he told me that he is not a good crab to have in the tank.So he is keeping him at his store and going to see if anyone wants to buy him.The tang was the 3rd fish he has got.I realy dont think the tang was sick because he was looking real good the night before,but yall know how it goes when that light turns off then that crab is hungry.Other then the crab my tank is doing real good.Better then it has ever been.This pic i just took of the tank.But no more crab.... *PEACE!*
