According to the LFS, they are Colisa labiosa, Thick-lipped gourami. After comparing pictures on the net, I am somewhat unconvinced. These are definitely young, so is it just that their colors will change with age? Is this just an unusual color morph?

Finally, what should I look for as far as sexing the pair?

Thanks!

Definitely a color morph....they call that one the 'Sunset Gourami'...not to be confused with the 'Sunset Dwarf Gourami' (Colisa lalia). Looks like you might have a pair there. The male will have a more pointed dorsal fin and is generally more colorful. NICE fish!!
