I don't know if this is some sort of disease but my fire red dwarf gourami's mouth is open and won't close. I noticed that about 4 months ago his mouth looked a little crooked, like the bottom jaw was off to the side. My husband said it didn't look that way to him. So I ignored it for a while. Then a month, later I noticed that the corners of its mouth looked like it had 2 red bumps under the skin. They went away in a few days. Then about a month later my husband could tell that his mouth was crooked. His mouth only closed a fraction over halfway. Last night I noticed that his mouth now doesn't close at all. You can see that he is trying to close it because it is moving a little. And he doesnt seem to be able to eat because the food keeps poping out of his mouth. What could be wrong?

I'm having the same problem with a Neon Tetra today. It's mouth doesn't close anymore. I suspect it's some kind of mass-breeding defect, i've had him for about 6-7 months and he's one of the weaker tetra out of the bunch.

My platy had this problem for 2 days, she had a piece of food lodged in her mouth. Some pieces of floating fish food seem to be really hard and sharp and insoluble. Maybe that's the problem?
