hmmm thats kinda werid you had a sudden outburst of algae, I'm not sure why that happened. do you have any algae eating fish? Otos are miracle workers when It comes to eating algae, you could try a couple of those. Or browse your local fish store there are hudreds of new gadgets to remove algae, try some of them and see what works the best! Good luck with your algae problem *twirlysmiley*

Check your water for phosphates (or have your fish store check), if they are high that will cause an algae bloom.  You can buy a phosphate pillow (like greenex) and that should help.  Also some of the tank clarifiers will clump algae and then your filter will help remove.  You can also turn off the lights for a couple days and cover the tank to kill off the algae.

Try a phosphate pillow and vaccuum your gravel real good. Do partial water changes for a few days, vaccumming the bottom well.

Bet your nitrAtes are starting to creep up.

Green water is from too many nutrients.

If your tank was from over fertilizing(like in a planted tank), then you would probebly have to do the lights-out method.

If it is not from that, your nutrients are in your gravel.(leftover food and fish poop)

Do you have a siphon with a gravel vac attached(tube with a big tube at the bottom for gravel vaccuming)?
