I have to say Neons of any variety are by far my fav community fish... I saw some greens in person yesterday though, and I am totally in LOVE. My wife will kill me though if I go spending on another tank. I have a few 29g & 40gtall's to work with, but then I would need a filter and all... ugh. this is painful. I really want some of those suckers now. I could set up the tank in the formal living room (so the dogs don't knock them over when they wrestle), but then I would be glued to that room... I would do the green neons, black neons, and cardinal tetras with some CDP's (if compatible), some loaches for the bottom action, and maybe some hatchets for good measure... Oh the possibilities!

ugh. But the wife would totally kill me (and it would be insanely difficult to move across country next year). ::sigh:: I would have SO much fun with that. Come on lottery jackot!!

Do some dishes, vacuum a little bit. Buy some flowers for the dinning room table, but don't give a particular reason. Let that sink in for about 36 hours, then after she's had a cup of coffee... mention the fish tank idea.

Shed know something was up if I was cleaning, lol! Though she would think I want another reptile. I'm trying to offset the cost by selling off unused reptile stuff. Then, we still have cash after our trip to the keys in 3 weeks, she may be ok with me getting some used supplies. I may also have to feed her movie addiction a bit, and get rid of other unused stuff. Or i could just be a jerk and show up with some for the current tank. When they are too much for it, just pull out the "i need to set up a new tank because i did more research and they needed more space" line. She would be mad, but I'd have what i want. (I'm suck a bad wife)

Ehh.. she'll come around. My wife was never a fish person until I got involved in it. Can't say she's totally enamored with it, but does like it and she pays attention to my tanks.

Neons are nice colorful little guys. It's said that the very similar Cardinal tetra is a hardier fish. They're nice in a big group. (neons or otherwise)

I was going to go out and get some today, but I spent the last 7 hours fixing my mom's breaks... the woman drives like Mario Andretti but refuses to take care of her car. she wore her pads to non-existance, literally. I had to learn to change calipers too today (car maintenance on the fly) ugh. I hope she learns. I have to do her front breaks soon, but she is refusing to buy the parts. I told her she owes me a whole ton of beers until I deem my work paid off... ::sigh::
I hope to go out tomorrow sometime before our "party" to pick up a small group. Those and some corys... They had some nice-looking pygmy corys at the shop (btw, totally impressed with this place even though they pitch hard for sales on supplies, they are all about educating for animals and plants. I was blown away). Anyway, hopefully tomorrow I can snag some green neons and some corys and call it a wrap for this tank... (unless of course I "have" to set up the 40tall...)
