Green Terror question

My GT has been doing this wierd thing for a couple of weeks now and I'd like to know why:

He just kind of shakes for about 5 seconds and then goes on his merry way. I don't really know how to explain it--it's kind of like when guys have the "pee shivers." Sorry, but that's the closest analogy I could think of.

He appears to be in excellent health, as long as he steers clear of the Jags. Also, since the jags have dug out a pit, my GT has taken on a strange new marking--starting from both eyes, there is now a black mark that runs down to the bottom of his gill covers. It looks as if he's crying. What a strange Green Terror...

My Orange Zebra (African cichlid) does that!

I'm not sure if its a territory thing, a mating thing or its just something like the chills. Havn't figured it out yet.

is it a female? it maybe about to lay eggs, not sure. does it have a pink round piece of flesh behind the butt hole?

My fish is a male and it does this. I think this is just a...."watch out for me" signal.

After watching my GT more, I think that the shaking thing is some sort of territorial/"watch out for me" signal. I'm not 100% sure, but all indications seem to point to this.

Seems he is trying to dominate the tank now. Hmmm.

It also may be a territorial thing weather it's a female or a male.

Is your Green Terror maybe trying to mate with something else in the tank?? If so then maybe it could be a spawning colour.........

I think its just a territory thing. My male Orange Mbuna (which i just got rid of YAY) did it.

My Redheaded Cichlid male does it when he nears the female (particularly in and around territory). Think it does it whn approaching a female to mate. But it is a signal of stress i persume.
Evn my GT gets black bars when my oscar bullies him. So it should be as a signal of stress.

I've been watching my GT more and he does it when he's in my Jag's territory, but also when the female Jag is around. After shakin' his stuff, he proceeds to bite the driftwood a couple times, then tug at my sword plants *grrr*

I guess he just wants some attention!
