I have a 5 inch green terror and about a 8 inch oscar...is it true that the gt will get more agressive than my oscar? Right now hes a sweetie and they seem to like each other..do u think things will change once he gets bigger? Also on occation I feed them live fish but the oscar is the only one who really eats them. Is it just because the gt is small or something so he wont eat them?...whats up w/ it?

the green terror will get far more agressive than the oscar
if i was u i would chose to keep one or the other or split them up into diffrent tanks as in your size tank there will fight when fully grown

GT's are naturally more aggressive than your Oscar, however, this is not to say that they will not get along together. GT's are territorial and like their space. When space is not given, they will begin fighting with the other fish. 20-30 gallons is a good estimate for a medium sized GT like yours. As they get older and larger, they will need more room, about 55 gallons or so for a full grown adult.

GT's can be very picky about new tankmates. If they can be eaten, they eventually will. If other fish can hold their own or respect the GT's space, there shouldn't be a problem.

As for keeping your Oscar with your GT in a 75g, there shouldn't be a problem, unless you happen to have the occasional fish with a bad disposition. Try to set up defined territories and you should be OK. The GT will choose his/hers, and the Oscar will get what's left.

Eli they will be fine! because what you got isnt a true Green Terror... its either a Gold Saum or a Silver Saum...
Green Terrors aka aequidens rivulatus havent been around the hobby for lots of years.... no one is actually breeding them.. and are mostly imported for a great cost (say around 300$) because they are wild caught..and the place where they get them is very hard to go to...

the fishes called Green Terrors nowadays... arent green terrors...
they are Gold Saums...Silver saums...
The true green terrors are located at Equador and dont look much alike with a Gold Saum.. they look more like a silver saum.. and a geophagus species.. they got Hump from 4" and they can grow up to 12" the last one seen was before 7 years...
also their colour is the vise versa of the one that Gold saums got...(i mean their scale colour)

here is the text i was looking for! here you go guys!

David Wong: " won't go into where this fish is found because I'm not a explorer and have never been on a fish expedition. I only read books to find out this kind of information so if you want to know specifically where they are from look it up. But in general, they are South American fish. I'm not sure whether this fish was ever described. I have yet to find them listed in any book. Usually the typical Aequidens sp. is listed after a picture. I have heard it being called: Gold Saum in Axelrod's Atlas, but the most widely used name is the Flametail. Named of course for their beautiful caudal fin. Their tail fin comes in arrays of colors. From white, yellow, orange, and even Red! The quality is judged usually by how dark and wide the orange edge of the fin gets. The white tailed flametail often confuses people of another fish, their closes cousin the Green Terror, Aequidens rivulatus. I have only seen the true Aequidens rivulatus once about Fifteen years ago. This fish is a completely different animal. It's shape is more like the Red Hump Eartheater, Geophagus steindachneri. Aequidens rivulatus is a very aggressive fish hence the name Green Terror. On the contrary the Flametail is not aggressive compared to most Cichlids of that size. Maximum size for males is about 12 inches! (Which I believe is the largest of the Aequidens) whereas females are about eight inches. Males if kept in groups develop a large muchal hump similar to Amphilophus citrinellum. Muchal humps are usually signs of dominance or an alpha fish in the tank. You can only achieve a muchal hump if other males are present.

This fish breeds in the typical Aequidens manner. They find a site in open water and usually spawn on a flat stone. Other Cichlids tend to hide their nest in caves, but Aequidens don't do this. The water parameter doesn't bother this fish. It is easily spawned in soft or hard water and high or low pH. I bred this pair in 84 degrees Fahrenheit with a pH reading of 7.5 and a hardness of 5 dkh. They have extremely good parental care and spawns of up to 800 are not uncommon. Males are separated by the their beautiful reticulated tails and bright greenish white body color. Females on the other hand lack any kind of reticulation on their caudal fin and are completely olive drab in color. Some females will have a blue-green chin. I like to keep my lights on for 24 hours if I want to breed fish, being the less change the better. The fry are easily raised on Live baby brine shrimp and grow quite fast. Young fish tend to mature fast. I have had baby fish spawn at only two inches in length!

This is a truly beautiful fish, one that I keep coming back to. I hope that many of you give this fish a try I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Oh as a last comment, I have experienced bloating in males due to being fed tubifex worms excessively so be cautioned."

all the information published about green terrors on the internet is aobut the green terror he has, green terror is just a common name which are unreliable with lots of cichlids, the new one is a green terror the old one is too, they just both share the same common name, he already knows its not the original green terror, but it makes no difference at all since all teh advice he is given is for the green terror he has
