Arg! It has happened to me at last - my 10 gallon tank has been overrun with a strange green scurge. One weekend I did a fairly large water change, to eliminate some cloudyness, and the nex thing I knew I had green water so dark you can't see the fish unless they are right next to the glass. It's been almost two weeks and I have seen no improvement (I'm not even doing water changes cause I'm scared it will get worse). Do ya'll know how to get rid of this nasty water, that doesn't require starting over? (because I simply don't have time) ??? ???

No plants in that tank, only plastic and some cheap decorations. The only things is, as the algae dies off, won't it consume oxygen? I already have an air pump running that runs from before the lights come on to after they go off (which totals to be about 16 hours), and so should I leave it on all night?

You are doing the right thing with the water changes(what are your nitrAtes at this point?)

You must turn off the light and cover the tank as cloth suggested.

Make sure you Vacuum your substrate which is most likely the source of the algae food(along with light)

I would say keep the fish in there, keep the airpump on 24/7
