Just when things seemed to be going so well, I noticed red blotches on one of my female guppies.

Did a 50% w/c added conditioner & Melafix.

Suggestions for an antibiotic?

Everything seems fine, after the w/c I tested and things look good there.

The one that has the red blotches is just hanging out by herself. She swims a bit but she looks upset.

Everyone else looks ok though.

Is there some form of treatment especially for this?

Also, do you think I should separate her from the others?

Also, I should add that this came very quickly. I look at the females constantly because I have the fry in a nursery in that tank. There were no signs of this earlier. I went to check on the fry and saw the markings on her.

No idea then. I remembered you saying you had ammonia in your tank a few days ago. Ammonia = Nitrite and nitrite poisoning turns the fish's blood dark and interferes with their ability to uptake oxygen into their blood.

Wait an hour or two after the water change and test again. Ammonia and Nitrite should be 0. Anything else and that would be my very first suspect.

Alternatively it could be a bacteria or fungi. Does it look raised or bumpy?

The ammonia went down on the guppy tank and its bright yellow(0) when I test now.

It isn't raised just looks like a red blood pool under the skin. Best way I can explain it.

I'm keeping a close eye to see if any others start to show the same markings.

Perhaps this is because the levels were up there and maybe its just showing the affects now... That could very well be whats happening.
