So, the other day as I'm preparing to leave the house (4:30am) I walked by my tank and something caught my eye. The lights weren't on yet, but I could tell something looked off. Sure enough one of the new angels that had just been moved out of quarantine two days earlier is now stuck to the side of my Koralia. I'm thinking, man that sucks that one of them died. And it appeared to be doing well. In fact all of them had been looking and eating well.

So I unplugged the Koralia and lo and behold, I see a little movement. The fish looks kinda bad and immediately proceeds to get itself stuck to the foam prefilter on my XP3. Anyway, I'm in a hurry to get to the gym, so I figure I'll just fish out the body when I get back.

When I came home, I unplugged the filter and managed to net the fish, but upon close inspection it was still alive. I took it back upstairs and placed her back in the QT tank. Looked a little stressed that morning but has been eating and acting just fine since.

Do you think that maybe the fish just drifted too close the the pump while "asleep" and got stuck? I've never seen this before, but I have never kept angels. Like I said, it is acting 100% normal back in the qt tank, and appeared to be one of the more aggressive and active prior to the incident.

My wife thinks it is because she is the only one who got a name already :p.

thats sounds odd..I havent had angles either so i dont know how much help i can be but IMHO I would leave her in QT for alittle while longer if nothing else to get her strength back up completely. I have had other fish get stuck to the filter but it was only when they were on the verge of dying.

No, in fact, this particular fish seemed to be one of the more active of the bunch. The first couple days in the main tank they all seemed a little freaked out and mostly stuck to the back corners. Of course, that is also where all the intakes and equipment is. So yeah, it is weird. I thought for sure it was going to die, but it looks absolutely normal right now.

I think I will leave it in the QT for a bit longer just so I can keep an eye on it.

What size tank do you have the Koralia in? Being that they are such high flow pumps you might have the angel equivalent of a maytag washer ;).

Angels come from areas with relatively low current and arn't really known for their strong swimming abilities. Really if an angel needs to fight the current (different then flow) there is too much.

Depends though... in a big enough tank with a smaller model Koralia that might not be the issue.

It is a Koralia 2 and it is in a 75 g tank. It does provide a good deal of flow, but there are plenty of areas in the tank where the water movement is slower. The other 4 angels from the same batch that were introduced at the same time have done well in the tank. She has done well back in the 10, but I re-introduced her/him today so we'll see how it goes.
