When I feed my fishies in the morning I always sit with my breakfast and observe, make sure everyone is healthy and accounted for. Well, this morning I was shocked to notice that not only was one of the Otos laying on the gravel with little chunks torn out of his belly, he was still alive! Poor little thing. I didn't even bother getting online to ask if he could be saved, he was breathing really hard and I was so suprised he wasn't dead already.

I caught him in a cup (actually had to catch him, he made a poor little sideways attempt to swim away) and put him in the freezer. I didn't know what else to do and didn't know how long he'd been suffering so I didn't want to waste any more time.

So now I know that SOMEONE else in there is attacking other fish. Is it the gouramis? And is it just cuz that's the way they are, or cuz I don't feed them enough? I only feed them once a day, cuz they're mostly new fish, I haven't moved up to 2 feedings.

It could be your rosy barbs, I have one and if i add any new fish he will nip at them, i put a guppy with him once and the whole of its tail was nearly all off in the space of 24hrs :(
