I've been wanting to upgrade the filtration for my 75 gallon for a while. It's not drilled, so my simplest option would be to use a hang on overflow going to a sump.

Never used one or seen one. Are these really worth the money as an alternitive to drilling a tank?

yes they are, many people with reefs and not a drilled tank will use them.

They can be finiky to get the flow inline with the return pump but it is worth it if drilling the takn isnt a option (your tank is full at the momet right?)

That's exactly it OCC. I've got a full tank, and no where to move the fish even for just temporary.

I figured it was worth it seeing as how many tanks I've seen with them, but I just wanted to point blank ask before I start on such a thing and end up wasteing money.

I'll end up buying the overflow pre-made, and DIY the sump. Any suggestions of particular brands or types that are good overflows?
