What are some of the hard to breed cichlids? I would like to give one of them a try, i can move some fish around to have a 55gal tank open soo, hopefully there are many possibilities.

As far as I know, most of the harder to breed cichlids are quite large and would need a tank bigger then a 55gal. Allthough I'm sure there are some smaller ones that I just cant think of

No cichlid is really hard to breed. You simply have to provide them with the right environment. Which is why some of the larger species aren't bred commonly, because they need a much larger tank than most are willing to provide.

Altum angels are very difficult to breed.

I am not sure that anyone is doing it on a regular basis here in the states.

Do you have hard or soft water?

Some of the harder to breed Lake Vic fishes might be a possibility or some of the newer discovered aspistos on the soft water end of things.

No cichlid hard to breed - I can think of a few that are hard to keep alive, let alone breed, and not just on size grounds. Discus are prett straightforward. There are some geophagines from fast flowing water that are pretty tricky, and Teleocichla are very, very difficult, though some have now been spawned. They're about equivalent to spawning gold nugget plecs I would guess, and that's not very easy.
