What do you mean by "prefer"... food, Reef or non-reef tank setting...?

The aren't the best of swimmers and usually will be found perched on a rock or coral keeping a look-out for food. They are quite a curious fish (at least the Flame hawk is) and they like to people watch.

I saw a longnosed hawkfish at my lfs and the girl said it was ok for my tank with two false percs and I talked to my uncle who has had many SW fish and he had one and said they were cool to watch, very curious I hear(all hawkfish that is, maybe why they called it that, you know, "I'm gonna watch you like a hawk)but whatever.

Adult sized hawkfish will prey upon smaller fish and crustaceans. The reason they look "retarded" is because they cannot suspend/float in water as they do not have a swim bladder. They have to perch on something when they are not actively swimming. They can even be found perching sideways behind tubes or on top of powerheads in aquariums.
