yes MH will heat up the tank, depending on how close the bulb is to the water and if it is HQI or single end the temp will be different, depending on all this and you climate you may need a chiller at least during the light times of day.

Depends on the room as well - if it's well ventilated and cool it's likely not a big deal.
As to whether the lighting has enough 'grunt' for clams - how deep is a 75?

less the sand depth that is.......I have a crocea and a derasa on the bottom of my 75g under 2 x 150w 14K bulbs and they seem to be thriving.....

Yeah, I just wired up a new cooling fan setup. Now my temp is a steady 81.

I have a 12v fan cooling fan blowing in and a temperature sensative fan for the exhaust. They only turn on when the MH are on. Seems to be working quite nicely for me.
