Are most heaters now sold with the set-the-desired-temp and let it do the work for you style. I ask because there is no lfs around here adn i rely on online stores. If not, what kind of heater is a good one taht is like that?

Ive noticed that many aquarists have ebo-jager models. So i would prolly recomend that brand but i dont really use heaters, i only have one in my 45g 150watts. But i would recommend the use of them. Anyways http://www.bigalsonline.com/ is a highly reliable site for ordering anything fish related online so check them out there if you dont want to go with the ebo-jager model im sure there are others that will fit your prefered style. I even saw one were the remote for setting the temp was outside of the tank, how convenient. Anyways good luck.

Hey wait I must comment that the Visi-therm Heater by Marineland is extremley reliable. I think they and the Ebo Jager series are the best but since the Ebo Jager have been here longer I guess they have a well know reputation. I'm not sure is my friend lying but he claims that his Ebo Jager is 9 years old!

I don't even use a heater in my 2 10 gallon tanks. The lights work well as a heater. But I noticed that since I went from regular bulbs to flourescent bulbs, they don't let off much heat. I don't think I will have a problem though as long as I keep the room temperature average.

Well i Bought an Aquatic Gardens Submersible Aquarium Heater. the 100 watt one for my 29 gal, The first one they sent me didnt work. Then they sent me a new one, and it heated up the tank really fast. Then that one broke in a week, just wouldnt turn on anymore. So im gettin a refund and going to buy a Ebo one.
