the top part sprouted out wierdly..

what are these gonna turn into/do?

maybe this is the begining of algae?
but they move?

any ideas?

Hehe a SCARY moderator! :D lol jk Somonas.

But back to the question. They sound like Hydras more to me. Can you get a close up picture of them? Either way they are either hydras or nematoides. Both of which are harmless and fish can consume them.

Anyway, what I know about Hydra is that it's very hard to get rid of. A friend of mine had it in one of his killie tanks. He would not put any thing in the tank that could contaminate any other tank.
I do not know what he did to solve it. He might have nuked it (dryed everything out etc).

I have hydra in my tank too, and from what I have heard, they won't harm larger fish. But if you are planning on having fry in there, and they are hydra, they can catch and eat the fry. Apparently they go away when the water is in very good condition. Mine have declined a lot... in fact, now that I think about it... I haven't seen any in awhile. They come in on plants etc.

ya i do water changes
there in my piranha tank who eat feeders.. so ya they have the most run down tank

my cichlid tank has them. probably because they moved on a net.
since these two tanks share a filter thingy i never thought to much about the net

my guppy tank seems free of them
thank god. i jsut spotted about 8 baby guppys.
there so cute
i think i will be putting bigger effort into guppys very soon :)
