My name is Jared and I am fairly new to the hobby. I have tried to put together as interesting of a tank as possible but, since I live in Iowa and I started my tank in the middle of winter the available selection could be a lot better.

I would gladly welcome any hints, comments, questions, or bad jokes about my tank

sounds like you have a good combination of fish and low light plants to get going. We would all love to see some pics of your setup. There are a lot of very easy and very cheap ways to improve your setup, including Do It Yourself CO2, and OverDriven Normal Output FLourescnet bulbs. Take a look at the links in my signature to read some great sticky threads on DIY CO2 and ODNO lighting. I use both and have had great results without spending a lot of money.
