help! can someone identify this..symptom? pic incl'd

my gourami is getting this red spot under his chin...it appeared a week or so ago, but since it started to go away i ignored it and just today it appeared even redder than before!

I would say a bacteria infection, ask your locals supplier for a treatment and see if that helps.

You can try melafix. It is safe for anything in your tank and treats a broad range of problems. If it doesn't help, then you might need to try a stronger medication.

looks like hes been nipped and it might be getting infected..

i would put in cycle and some water conditioner to start if you dont have any meds on hand.. some salt might help also..

but definately find some sort of meds ... something that heals open wounds... melafix is weak i dont even use that stuff... not strong enough to cure big problems..
