Do a 25-50% water change and make sure you use carbon in your filter to remove the meds. The salt and temp raising will take care of the ich that is currently on your gourami anyway. (ich is actually killed in the free-swimming stage, not when it's actually on the fish). Hopefully with the meds removed your clowns will be thier happy lil selves again :)

Hey!

Salt and heat are stress causers. I know from MY own mistakes :)

Put the temp back if you think the ich is gone. The heat and salt will make stuff worse.

Take out water to get rid of salt, then put carbon in filter like ecotank says

Next time use HEXAMIT for ich it wont hurt scalless fissh

um pablo, salt and heat is a natural way to kill ich. ive used it since i heard about it and i havent lost a single loach(or any other fish:)) it works just as well as meds, sometimes faster. ive never seen HEXAMIT around before, so i wont knock it, but the salt/heat method is what i use:)

I have had four loaches in my aquarium for about a month now and they got ick a couple of weeks ago. I tried treating it with medicine, but it didn't seem to be helping. So I got on the internet and read that you can kill ick with heat. I slowly raised the temperature one degree everyday and a week later, NO MORE ICK!! In my opinion, this is the best treatment for ick, especially for loaches. It is also said you can add salt, but i read that clown loaches are sensitive to salts and just decided to see how the heat would work and i was very pleased. Just raise the temperature if they get ick. Mine were doing fine clear up to about 88 degrees(the ick was gone by then, so they might be able to withstand more) That's my 2 cents.

I had ick for weeks and weeks and weeks and then my fish got fin rot as a superinfection - nothing worked until I did salt and heat. I have read several places that heat alone will do it, it just akes longer. Make sure that you treat for at least ten days to kill all the ick. If you stop when the symptoms go away, there is a high risk of recurrence. (Trust me, not only is this true for patients, it's also true for fish.) I made the mistake of halting treatment (when I was still using malachite green/formalyn) because the fish were getting toxic from the meds. One day later, the ick was back and worse than ever.

My fish are fine, now. Just remember to treat for two days.
