Help, Filter making noises

When we got my filter for my 35g it worked really well and was very quiet, for about a week or so, but now it is really noisy, like a grinding noise, we have checked it out quickly but thee doesn't seem to be any stones or anything in there, so what is it?

What kind of filter do you have?

My Fluval gets a bit noisy when it need cleaning out.Make sure theres no trapped air in the impeller aswell as that can sound rough.Give it a gentle shake.

When I did the water change the noise lessened slightly, but its still there so anythign else it could be.

Also how often should you replace the filter part thingamajiggy in the filter you have to wash, I dunno what its called lol lol

Take the filter apart, disassemble it.
Wash all the gunk out of it.
Reassemble components.

Thanks I just cleaned it the white filter thing was black, its now a dullish white like its supposed to lol. Is teh filter spongeyu thing called a bio filter maybe? that rings a bell from somewhere.

Oh yea and i think its an AVHO-650, an aquavital one I think.

The sponge is most likely the bio filter in your brand.

try this, if you have removed the impeller and cleaned it as well as the little hole it fits in and you still get the rattleing noise, this may sound kinda strange but take some well chewed bubble gum and apply a small amount to the rubber bushings on each end of your impeller. don't put a lot on as it will get into the impeller. my filter did the same thing, i put the gum in it about 3 1/2 yrs ago, no problems since. tightens up a loose fit and is non permanent.
