HELP for my gouramis!

Help! I have 3 blue gouramis. Two of them have some sort of sores on them. The one is on the top of his head, and on the other on the top part of his gills. The aquarium store said to use Melafin. Anyone know if this is correct or anything else I can do? Do I need to quarantine him? I have a 55 gallon tank, w/ about 15 other fish. I don't want this to spread to my other fish. Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you.

A picture would help. I'm assuming you meant "Melafix." In which case that is probably a good idea. I would also quarantine them if you have a cycled quarantine tank. How long have you had the gouramis?

I do not have a quarantine tank. I got the Melafix and put it in the tank tonight. I have had the gouramis for about 6 months but adopted them from someone who had them for 3 years. I adopted the whole tank, fish, water and all, so it is their original enviroment.
