My female betta's left gill always sticks out more than the right gill. It's been doing this since I got her, but is it a problem? She has no other signs of illness or anything. I've had her for over a month. She doesn't seem to mind that it sticks out... just a thought. Today it just seemed to stick out more than usual.

Defnitely no male and female bettas together!! They'll hurt/kill each other. You may try breeding them but must remove the female after breeding! Her gills are NOT red and isn't breathing heavily. It just looks like it on the left because it sticks out more... I think it may have been cuz she was beaten up when i got her. Virtually no fins, had ich, etc.
