Help with ID on my new clam addition....

Can anyone tell me why this frogspawn has a brown patch...

this looks like two distinct varieties of frogspawn, one green one cream, growing out of the same central skeleton. each stalk is actually an independent organism so this is quite possible.

alas, i am not a clam expert, but i believe it is maxima
