I recently caved and picked up three cichlids from a local pet store that looked like if I didn't get them, they were going to perish since there was around 8-10 of their brothers and sister's floating on the surface. I think overfeeding was the problem, as their was loads of flakes floating in the water. I also got a bit of a deal, since the lady offered me a 14 day return on any bodies, plus only charged me for two. All three cichlids are a nice white color with three black stripes running horizontally from their foreheads to their tails, their bellies are pure white. They have a long dorsal fin running from just behind their forehead to just before their tails, the largest of the three who is around an inch and three quarters has some nice bright blue coming in at the tips of his pectoral fins. When I put them in the tank, they hung closely in my rock caverns but today are out and exploring. they are rather neat looking since their stripes run directly through their eyes giving a neat visual effect. The mouths are positioned in the cenre of their face and their heads look like a half circle on a long almost cigar shaped body. I placed them in a 25 gallon tank with fine gravel and several rocks with caves in them to hide, plus a few young sword plants, and some bubble media. I will take a picture soon as I pick up a some batteries for my digital camera.
