Help! Impeller broke!

#1
I have a 55 gallon that I'm running a Rena Filstar XP2 on. I unplugged it to clean off the intake and when I turned it back on it wouldn't run. I took the impellor out to clean it and the rubber tip stayed in the filter. I tried to put the impellor back in and the metal rod snapped! I can probably get the rubber tip out will tweezers but I need a new impellor. I called the only two places that are open on sunday and they don't have the part. Right now I have an airstone going on the tank and another one inside the canister part of the filter. How long will my fish be okay like this? I also have plants to make O2.

My two ideas to fix this problem:

1. Call around tomorrow and find the part

2. Go get an xp1 at petsmart today and just use the top on my xp2 canister until the other place I called today can order one for me and get it wednesday. I was going to get an xp1 for my new tank once I get it. But I was going to get it online since it's like $40 cheaper.

Which should I do?

BTW, this filter is over two years old and this is the first time I've needed to replace a part. It's a great filter. I recommend it! ;)

Decided to go with number 2. I really don't want to lose any fish in there. All my oldest fish are in there. I'm really attached to them. The inhabitants include my 4 year old pearl gourami Dot and her two younger friends, my 5 year old cherry barb Lillian and some of her kids, and my breeding pair of bristlenose plecos with some babies still in the tank.
