First thing we need is some more information to be able to be able to help.

What size tank are they in? Is the temperature stable?

How long has the tank been set up? Do you have test kits and can you tell us what the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels are?

Have you done a water change recently? Did you remember to put dechlorinator (water conditioner) in? Could anything have gotten into the tank that would be bad? (cleaning supplies, soap etc)

Your fish definitely doesn't look happy. It sounds like maybe something is stressing your fish out. That can be easy to do, anything from putting a new fish into the tank, to forgetting dechlorinator, to letting the water get too hot, putting too many fish into a tank too quickly (which would raise the ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels)...all kinds of stuff can stress fish out.

they are in a 55 gal. We had a fish that kept picking on them so we took him out. He was biting the other fish. I thought that is what the bloody stuff was from but it's gotten worse since we took him out. We havent done a water change recently. We have the water conditioner in there. The tank has been set since early this year i believe. this is the first problem we have run into with this tank. I haven't done any of the testing but Petco did it for us and said it was fine. These are the same fish that have been in the tank since the beginning.
