One of my clown loaches is laying on the bottom of my tank not moving.  I know they do this naturally when they relax or something, but I reached down and he didn't move his body.  But his mouth opened and closed a few times.  That was it.  What should I do??

???

Re: HELP!  Possibly urgent

Ok, he died.  No reason why.  When I looked at them before, he was swimming around having a good time, and then I walk in the room next and he is laying on his side.   :'(

Re: HELP!  Possibly urgent

Just fine.  They are staying under the broken clay pots I put in there.  They seem to be acting normal though.  I just don't understand it.  I was in there no more than 30 minutes before I found him dead, and he was the most active and curious one swimming around inspecting everything.  My water is crystal clear, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites.  I have a Pen. 170 biowheel filter, and a Pen. 550 water circulator thingy.  I just don't know.   :-/

Sorry Nick

Temp in tank OK.  Cold it be low O2?

Luvfishes had a diaster with some kribs d/t heat pushin out O2.

Just a thought, the most active fish would be the most effected by low O2.

???  If taht's it airate.

Re: HELP!  Possibly urgent

It was inbetween inbetween an inch and an inch and a half.

About:

_________________________   <~~ that long.

I guess it is possible about the low O2.  I just bought one of those water mover things last night, and I directed the flow downwards and included some O2 in the stream just in case.

Temp is around 77-80 (I can't really tell with this stoopid loser made thermometer I got with my tank kit....it's so nondistinguisable).

Oh well.  I thought at first it was something I did, but then I realized that the other fish were ok, so maybe it wasn't something I did....I still kinda feel guilty though.   :-[  :-[  :'(  :'(

Re: HELP!  Possibly urgent

That stinks...at first glance, when I read your first statement, I thought, clown loaches are known to lay on their sides. Mine did. Other people have asked the same question before as well.

I thought it was dead too the first time I saw it, then relized it wasn't.
