I just brought home a peacock Cichlid today i have various other African Cichlids in a 38 Gallon tank. I went to my grandma's house and came home and now he is floating "belly up," but he is not quite Dead. Is there anything i can do to help him?

P.S. what are the water parameters supposed to be for African cichlids, my parameters now are horrible, and this is why the fish is dying, PH-7.0, Ammonia-.25, Nitrite-0, and Nitrate-160. i tested using the Freshwater Master Kit.

Please help this fish was very expensive

I have to restate what sweetpickles said, you just bought a peacock and you already have others, you might have to many cichlids in a small area, I'd look at possibly another tank or a bigger tank. Also, are the fish you have compatible? Water may be bad but I wouldn't rule out another fish.

There's different ideas about overstocking and being ok... personally, I tried what I thought was "overstocking" and I kept losing fish until I had an appropriate amount. As bad as it sounds, once I let the fish die off to only a handful, they were all perfectly fine (though I personally wouldn't do that again)
