I just got my Betta the other day. I have roommates who do not want to turn on the Central Air and it gets down to 40-45 degrees at night here lately. Is this effecting the temperature of the bowl a lot or is it ok? I don't have a thermameter on the bowl. It is just a 1 gal bowl. Also, if it is altering the temp a lot will he still be ok? He seems to be doing fine over these past 2 days, so.....

They have mini heaters for bowls. Bettas need warm water.. all the time. Your best bet is to put him in a bigger home like a 2.5 gallon MiniBowl or one of the Eclipse tanks. Both aquariums come with filters which is better for your fish. Eclipse are the best. My Betta is in a Eclipse 6 and he has grown!

If the night time temp is dropping down to 40 at night you need more than just a mini heater for bowls. At best those things only can warm the water a few degrees. Get at least a 25 watt heater and a thermometer. Monitor the temp, even a 25 watter may not be able to keep up.
